Matt Jordan

Matt Jordan is devoted to pushing the boundaries - not only in his designs but also in application. He is known for his large scale black and grey work as well as complex compositions created with film-set like dedication. Matt uses Bishop machines to tattoo using a layering approach, similar to that of an oil painter, blurring the line between tattoo and fine art. Recently, Matt produced his groundbreaking solo exhibition, “A Body of Work”. Taking 10 years of tattooing to complete, the exhibition featured large scale, medium format photographs of his tattoo work. Matt has traveled all over the world, winning some of the biggest awards the tattoo industry has to offer. Tattooing has been in Matt’s family for generations, with his father and grandfather also practicing the art. Matt lives in the Far North of New Zealand, working from his private studio, Studio Takitimu.
